Story
Nurse Delia Ballmer met with Sweeney, who confessed to killing his ex-girlfriend. Ballmer rebuilt his life to confront Sweeney seven years later after he was arrested for another murder.
Based on a true crime story
The bodies were dumped in canals in Rotterdam (not Amsterdam) and London. This excellent drama is based on the true, terrifying story of Delia Ballmer.
Instead, we have Delia, who frankly isn’t a particularly likable woman
Unlike many real-life dramas, there are no sugar-coated events or characters or some dynamic character who steps in to save the day. He can be rude, rude, quick to cut and hurl insults – and that’s before he meets John Sweeney.
She was just WOW
However, Delia’s ordeal is so incredibly tragic that I was moved to tears many times and was overcome with anger and disgust at the attitude of the police and the justice system. Anna Maxwell Martin deserves awards for her brilliant performance.
This show is not for the faint of heart, but it is well worth watching
I sincerely hope the police and justice system have learned and the victims are not treated as liars and criminals.
